SeaLink Tailbuoy Components
SeaLink Power Charging Module
The SeaLink Power Charging Module (PCM) is a rugged, titanium-housed unit designed to switch power on and off while supplying the tail buoy with up to 48 VDC constant voltage. Available current is limited to the streamer current typically 750 to 800 mA delivering approximately 36 to 38 watts of power to the tail buoy.
Controlled through the SeaLink recording system, the PCM is typically installed between the last active section and the tail stretch. Each module is sealed within a pressurized titanium tube featuring dual O-ring end caps for reliable protection in harsh marine environments.
Built for demanding offshore operations, the PCM offers a crush depth rating of 1,524 meters and is equipped with SeaLink 56-pin connectors on both ends for seamless electrical integration with the SeaLink system.
SeaLink Streamer to Tailbuoy Interface Cable (STIC)
The Streamer to Tail Buoy Interface Cable (STIC) is housed in a durable yet flexible assembly that provides mechanical support and an interface for connection to a wide range of tail buoy system accessories. When used with the Power Charging Module and the Power Tail Slip Ring, the STIC provides a rugged electrical and mechanical interface for tail buoys with power charging requirements. In addition, STIC’s provides the extra weight required at the aft end of the streamer to maintain proper balance. The STIC is 35 m long, and the standard tail buoy jumper length is 1 m.
SeaLink Power Tail Slip Ring
The Power Tail Slip Ring is a module designed to provide a robust mechanical interface with full 360° rotation while converting a standard SeaLink 56-pin connection to an 8-pin AGP-style connector for tail buoy power and charging applications. It is typically used with a Streamer-to-Tail Buoy Interface Cable (STIC) and features two mounting holes for secure integration.
Each unit is housed in a titanium enclosure with end caps sealed by dual O-rings, internally pressurized, and crush depth rated to 1,524 meters.
The basic harness is supplied with a 60 mm hook and has a breaking strength of 450 Kg. while the strongest harness is fitted with a 90 mm clip and has a breaking strength of 1,800 Kg.
A range of harnesses are available ex-stock from our worldwide locations and special assemblies can be fabricated to order in a short time.
