Klein has two systems that are in use on Underwater Unmanned Vehicles (UUV). The Klein UUV 3500 is a single beam, dual-frequency lightweight system that offers high-resolution and excellent range. The Klein AUV 5000 is a high-resolution, dynamically- focused, multi-beam system that can be used on Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). Both systems are available with optional Bathymetry capabilities. Klein also offers the AUV3500 Deep which can also be used on AUV’s, ROV’s and ASV’s. Detailed specifications are available on this website.

Multi-beam side scan sonar technology provides the ability to tow the system at high speeds (from 10 to 15 knots depending on the model) while maintaining high-resolution bottom images. While Multi-Pulse technology also provides the ability to tow at high speeds, along track resolution is significantly sacrificed. For each additional pulse that is transmitted, along track resolution is degraded by a factor of two.
